Here is a quick exchange on Zerg versus MMM balls. One is a bit on the whiney side — the other is the retort. Testing.pwn, the gentleman that counters, makes some really great points below. First we’ll hear from Scyn.scyn:
Its OP. Mutas, dont stand up to stimmed marines, and mutas are expensive vs that combo.
Roaches die too quick and zerglings.Banelings are ok, but they often die before hitting the target, and no damage is inflicted on those marauders(too much damn hp). I hear some ppl saying fungal growth, but I dont see how that would help much either realistically.
Best bet to fast expand, and out produces with zergling and hydras(hydras focus fire medivacs) and zergling kill/attack them marauders and marines
But yeah its pretty op mmm
And Testing.pwn’s retort:
Obviously this a Raging/QQbaby Zerg.
I play zerg, and one thing I can tell you is I LOVE ZvT
Possibly one of the most interesting matchups in the game so far. There are a few things you can do to maintain map control when your opponent(T) goes Marine, Marauder, Medivac:
1) Depending on the unit composition (ie, he has more marines that marauders), you’ll want to try to use some banelings. Your main composition vs a MMMball would be Roaches and Hydras. Roaches simply because they are cost-effective tanks. One thing most people forget as Zerg, when fast teching to muta/hydra, is they never revert back to Roach, or even techswitch vs MMM. When you fast-tech, you’re basically skipping t1.5. DON’T! Roaches make for excellent meat shields to keep the much more deadly/fragile Hydralisks alive.
2) No matter what, in every ZvT you EVER play, you’ll want Infestors. Not only are they your counter to the Terran AA (thor), but their fungal growth DECIMATE the opposition, dealing an 8 second immobilizing 36dmg over that 8 seconds.
3) As aforementioned, Infestors are GREAT vs MMM, simply because their neural parasite targets air. Imagine, having 5~8 infestors is your army, and a giant MMMball runs your way?
Fungal the main army a few times, and parasite 2~4 of those medivacs for your OWN army. Imagine what the Hydralisks/Roaches can do when being healed?4) Last but not least, don’t listen to this silver-scrub trying to say that something is OP. He, along with a good majority of this forum are looking for reasons to blame the game for losing, or not being able to figure out how to counter a certain strategy.
Try this out, and hopefully, you’ll start seeing some increasing wins vs Terran =)

You can also throw a few Ultralisks into the mix. They do very well against low tier Terran, and have a ton of hit points. Back them up with Hyrda, and you’ll steamroll MMM.
i would not pit hyds in your main army against an MMM ball. very decimating to your army to lose them to tanks considering hyds must be in groups to be effective. thors can outrang hyds if you spend gas on detection instead of upgrade. i don’t see enough times T can’t handle hyds.
THis site should help you guys, it has good counters and scouting predictions. Shoould help against MMM.
