Platinum Status Baby!

by Waldo on August 29, 2010

Ever wonder what it’s like to have that number #1 emblem slapped next to your platinum league icon? Two of my buddies just found out and sent me the proof:

starcraft 2 platinum league rank 1
Now let me make a few points about what it does and does not take to get into the top spot for Starcraft 2′s platinum league.

  • Both of these guys have real jobs. They don’t spend a ridiculous amount of time in game, they get legit paychecks, and they date attractive girls (some artistic liberties have been taken with that last part). This first statement is really a two pointer — “these guys” means they are not girls. I don’t think we’ll see any chicks sitting in the top spot any time soon.
  • They both have really cool names. In fact “SGNTGNGRTTS” pronounced is “Sergent Ginger Tits”, possibly the greatest battle.net user name of all time. From their names we can deduce that they are not total douche bags. If one of their names were “dark assassin” or “killer”, I would have to put this screenshot off as a forgery.
  • These guys both play smart. They scout, drop, corner, cutoff, and basically take advantage of everything they can… What they do not do is proxy rush, cannon someone in, or pretty much any other bullshit opening strategy you can think of.
  • In summary, they play a great game and have a legit #1 spot. My hat is off to my two friends. If you see them on feel free to challenge them. I’m sure they won’t mind the brief interruption to their league play.
